Yesterday the employees of Golden Living Colonial Manor Nursing Home overwhelmingly voted “Union Yes!” electing to remain represented by SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin. Despite anti-union sentiments touted by Governor Walker, the results of this decertification election prove that when given a choice, employees want and support a labor union.
“Nowhere has the assault on working people been more crystallized than in Wisconsin. From the worksite to the State Capitol, the rights of working men and women have been under constant attack,” said Dian Palmer, president of SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin. “Despite shady tactics used by management, our members stood strong. They know that by working together, we can improve both the quality of services we provide and the communities in which we live.”
“This election was a huge victory for me and my co-workers. Management is constantly trying to take what little we have left,” said Darlene Marrow, CNA at Golden Living Colonial Manor. “Being protected in a union allows me to focus on my job and providing the best quality care for my residents.”
Golden Living Colonial Manor is a long-term care facility located in Glendale, Wisconsin. Currently, SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin represents 80 employees at that location.
